This magnificently restored theatre is the most obvious and impressive remnant of Roman Philadelphia. The theatre itself is cut into the northern side of a hill, and has a seating capacity of 6000. The best time for filming with natural light is the morning, when the light is soft – although the views from the top tiers just before sunset are also superb.

the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside Italy. To this day, its colonnaded streets, baths, theaters, plazas and arches remain in exceptional condition. Within the remaining city walls, archaeologists have found the ruins of settlements dating back to the Neolithic Age, indicating human occupation at this location for more than 6500 years. This is not surprising, as the area is ideally suited for human habitation.

Originally a Roman fortress constructed under Emperor Caracalla to protect its inhabitants from Bedouin tribes. It was one fort of many on the Roman highway, a route that connected Damascus to Aila by way of Petra, Amman.

A quiet area situated in Zarqa North east of the capital Amman. Hamam Al Sarah is composed of a bath-house with adjoining audience hall and hydraulic system, and a walled garden. The caldarium (heated room) is covered with a dome on pendentives, and flanked by two lateral semi-circular recesses, pierced with arched windows and covered with semi-domes.
